Holiday? No, work. From the Costa del Sol
Summer in Estepona, between Marbella and Gibraltar: remote since 2012, Syncronika fully remote since 2015, and a company designed to enable freedom rather than block it.

Holiday? No, work.
During the summer I work from the Costa del Sol, in Estepona, between Marbella and Gibraltar.
It is a place I know very well. Over the last six years I have spent long stretches of my life here and, since 2020, I also have a home here. The one in the photo is not mine, because it is currently rented out.
For me it is one of the best destinations in Europe to live and work: an extraordinary microclimate, sea, clean air, a strong international presence, and a lifestyle I could hardly imagine when I lived full time in Italy.
They call it the California of Europe.
The Golden Triangle
It is no coincidence that many European entrepreneurs and exit founders who built and scaled companies have chosen this area as a base.
The so-called Golden Triangle of the Costa del Sol, between Marbella, Estepona, and Benahavís, has become one of the most interesting places in Southern Europe.
Not only because of the climate. Because of the density of people working on their own projects, the international network, and the chance to keep both pace and quality of life without necessarily having to pick only one.
Freedom as an outcome, not an accident
Every now and then I stop and think about how much this work has given me.
It did not happen by chance.
It was the result of many contrarian choices. Some required sacrifice. Others meant giving up short-term economic results in order to build something that, for me, had much more value: freedom.
The ability to work from anywhere, without being tied by force to an office or a city, is not only a personal advantage.
It is the model with which we built Syncronika from the beginning.
Remote before it was fashionable
We have worked remotely since 2015. I personally since 2012, when remote work was still met with a lot of skepticism.
Today our team can choose where to live, organise their time, and work toward goals, without geography becoming a limit.
That does not mean no responsibility. It means trust, clarity on outputs, and an organisation that does not depend on physical presence to function.
Do not let others tell you how
One thing I have learned over these years is this.
Do not let other people tell you how you should run a company.
Some measure success by hours spent in an office, some by the city you work in, some by whether they always see you at a desk.
I believe a company should be designed to make the lifestyle you want possible, not to prevent it. Starting with the person who founded it.
Closing
For me work was never the end.
It has always been the tool to build a freer life.
And every time I open the laptop from a place like this, I remember why it was worth it.
